Intuitively pieced 5'x5' throw quilt using all naturally dyed fabric with the exception of a piece of salvaged denim and cyanotype. Naturally dyed pieces included were made using the following as dye sources: indigo, onion skins, queen anne's lace for the light yellow, pokeweed berries for a light pink, onion skins over dyed with madder root to get a nice warm orange, fustic for the deep mustard yellow, black walnuts for the coffee brown, logwood with iron as a color modifier to produce the grey and fustic with iron to produce the army green.
Finished by hand with a logwood + iron dyed double folded binding for a long lasting and durable edge. A light indigo wash for the backing and 100% organic wool for the batting.
Over 50 hours in handwork this quilt is ideal to admire on a wall but it's wool batting makes a wonderful blanket to snuggle up with, rich in various fiber textures and colors.
